A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
The Campus Climate study was conducted during January - February 2018 by Rankin & Associates. The study was titled: "Assessment of Climate for Learning, Living and Working" and was sent to all SCU faculty, staff and students (undergraduate and graduate) through email and posted throughout the school. It was designed to understand the feelings and attitudes of faculty, staff and students in terms of what it means to live, work and study at Santa Clara through a series of 117 free-response and multiple choice questions. The employee response rate was 43.98%.

Rankin and Associates conducted the formal study and they conducted the initial analysis of the data. Rankin and Associates used the following methodology as described in pages 12 – 15 in the Final report:

“Survey data were analyzed to compare the responses (in raw numbers and percentages) of various groups via SPSS (version 23.0). Missing data analyses (e.g., missing data patterns, survey fatigue) were conducted and those analyses were provided to Santa Clara University in a separate document. Descriptive statistics were calculated by salient group memberships (e.g., gender identity, racial identity, position status) to provide additional information regarding participant responses. Throughout much of this report, including the narrative and data tables within the narrative, information is presented using valid percentages.”

In addition, Rankin & Associates used Factor Analysis Methodology and a Means Testing Methodology

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
The formal Report and findings were made available in October 2018. Since then, the institution has been engaged with different stakeholders to share the results and to discuss the next steps. In Winter 2019, the institution announced the development of a formal working group to examine the ten key areas of concern that arose from the Campus Climate findings. Each area of concern has a coordinator and has a set of goals in order to address the concerns raised and how to address.

The results were shared with the University Community in two town halls forums held in early October 2018. The results and the next steps are available at www.scu.edu/voice for anyone within the SCU community.
