Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
Yes
A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
SCU hosts two food pantries:
The SCU Bronco Food Pantry opened Winter Quarter 2019 and currently houses non-perishable food items and basic toiletries. The Forge Garden provides "farm bucks" for students to get fresh produce at the weekly Farmstand.
SCU Law Eats is a food pantry for Law Students. In 2017, a survey was distributed among law schools students that revealed 15% of SCU law school students, are food insecure. Food insecure meant that they were unable to pay for adequate groceries or skipped meals in order to be financially stable. SCU Law Eats seeks to tackle this problem head on by providing food for law students in order to assist those who are in need. https://sclaw.scu.edu/spotlight/scu-law-eats/
