A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
Associated Students’ Transportation Solutions (TS) completed its annual
student survey, administered for two weeks during the fall 2022 semester. The fall
22’ survey was an online survey conducted through Qualtrics and was open from
October 31st through November 11th. The survey link was sent via email through
Constant Contact to 36,598 students. A total of 2,147 students participated in the
2022 survey, for a response rate of 5.9%, versus 3,054 studentsin 2021, a response
rate of 8%.
This survey is broken down into various categories, with the multiple points
of data available. The categories include student classification, on-campus student
responses, commute data, transportation choices and mode changes,
Transportation Solutions’ department effectiveness and student demographics.
The visual graphics and supplemental tables represent represents choice totals. If
a question was asked in 2021, and again in 2022, a second data table provides the
percentage change between the years. For some questions such as primary and
secondary commutes, and transit routes, some variation or inclusions of answers
were not offered in 2021. The choice options were expanded to include a variety
of data and commute options.
