A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:

Transportation Solutions administered the annual commute survey at the end of the fall semester. Qualtrics was used to carry out the survey; it was TS’s 19th commute survey. The study was carried out from November 4nd through 15th. The survey’s link was sent to 37,339 students (Regular enrollment, Open University, Special Sessions, and online instructional, etc.); 4,347 participated at a response rate of 11.6%. The survey instrument used was Qualtircs. The percentage of numbers is based on total respondents for that question (3,820). We were not able to break down Full-time vs. Part-time.

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:

The survey was carried out from October 28 2nd through November 8th, 2019, It was the first employee commute survey at SJSU. The survey’s link was sent to 7,296 employees including full-time, part-time, auxiliary, and state employees. 1,247 participated at a response rate of 17%. The survey tool used was Qualtrics. Some auxiliary student employees were included in this survey. The percentage of numbers based on full-time employee responses (928).
