"---" indicates that no data was submitted for this field

Does the institution's GHG emissions inventory include all Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions?:
Yes

Does the institution's GHG emissions inventory include all Scope 3 GHG emissions from any of the following categories?:
Yes or No
Business travel Yes
Commuting Yes
Purchased goods and services No
Capital goods No
Fuel- and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2 No
Waste generated in operations Yes

Does the institution's GHG emissions inventory include Scope 3 emissions from other categories?:
No

A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:

SJSU is required to report all Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions through California's Air Resources Board

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes

A brief description of the internal and/or external verification process:

Reporting to the CARB requires third party verification. We have contracted Locus Technologies for verification for the past 5 years. CARB requires us to use a new verifier every 6 years.

A brief description of the carbon sequestration program and reporting protocol used:
---

A brief description of the composting and carbon storage program:

Back of house food waste is collected in the on-site residential dining hall to be composted in the Associated Students Community Garden. Coffee grounds at Le Boulanger on campus are also collected to be used in the compost at the garden.

Start Date End Date
Performance Year Jan. 1, 2015 Dec. 31, 2015
Baseline Year Jan. 1, 2013 Dec. 31, 2013

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

2013 is the first year that we have complete data requested for this credit. This baseline year provided an accurate comparison between a past year and our most recent complete year.

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:
6,729,349 Square feet

Floor area of energy intensive building space, performance year:
Floor Area
Laboratory space 407,500 Square feet
Healthcare space 65,229 Square feet
Other energy intensive space 52,129 Square feet

Scope 3 GHG emissions, performance year::
