The Environmental Studies Master of Science program is designed to prepare students for careers as environmental professionals or to pursue further academic training in Ph.D. and other advanced degree programs. Our interdisciplinary curriculum integrates the life sciences, physical sciences, and social sciences and embraces both quantitative and qualitative research. Global and local perspectives are integrated in the coursework and the faculty and students embrace a diversity of perspectives.

he MSE Green Technology program with a focus on solar technologies will instruct students about the basics of green tech, sustainability, life cycle issues, and related topics. It was developed with the assistance of a green engineering advisory group and has been offered since Fall 2009. The program will also offer a solid background in related business, finance, and policy issues that must be factored in with the development and application of green technologies. Electives in the solar area will allow students to focus their academic program on a topic area that is critical to achieving global sustainability.

The Ecology and Evolution graduate program concentration in the Department of Biological Sciences at San Jose State University provides students with training and experience in the scientific investigation of ecological and evolutionary processes. In addition to course content, students work with faculty to develop a rigorous research program in ecology and/or evolution resulting in a thesis with a goal of generating a publishable body of work. Our graduates have an excellent grasp of theory and application of ecological and evolutionary principles.
