Miramar College'sBehavioral Intervention Teamis composed of college representatives and provides a proactive approach to address mental health needs that negatively impact students. The Teammanages each case individually while addressing mental health and academic concerns and initiating appropriate interventions. The intent of this form to provide Miramar College staff, faculty and administration the opportunity to request immediate assistance following behavioral observations or communication they believe warrant follow up

Students
Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) and Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE).
EOPS is a state-funded student support services program. Its purpose is to provide special recruitment, retention, and transition services to eligible students. The services offered are “above and beyond” those offered by the college’s Student Services division. The primary services include assistance in the following areas: priority enrollment, counseling/advisement, and preparation for transition to four-year colleges and universities. EOPS students who are single parents, have a child less than 14 years of age, and receive public assistance are encouraged to apply for the program’s Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) component. CARE provides additional support services to address those needs that are unique to single parents.

The San Diego City College Diversity Committee will take a lead role in fostering a campus environment that welcomes and respects diverse life experiences. It is committed to promoting diversity among the faculty and classified professionals that reflects the diversity of the City College student population.

Jet Fuel Pantry San Diego Miramar College has been very active in addressing the food insecurity issues of its students. Over the past year, the Office of Student Affairs has led the way in developing programs that directly provide nutritious meals to students as well as assisting students in identifying resources to nutritious food.
Miramar's Student Health and Mental Health Counseling Services provide students with the resources to support their physical and mental wellness needs. Services are offered by licensed care providers and include prevention, medical care, emotional support and counseling services. Remote access allows for student phone visits or appointments. We also provide consultation and referral services to students, staff, and faculty?
Dreamers Support Office
Students and their families learn of the many supports available to them during our events from financial aid and scholarship resources to interactive workshops related to income generating opportunities. We also encourage student-to-student and student-to-staff connections through our more engaging activities like Coffee & Crafts, an interactive arts and crafts workshop, and Undocu-Ally Training, where faculty, staff, and students can learn how to be an ally to the undocumented community. We work closely with other service departments to curate these events and workshops, and we also highlight important webinars that our community partners host.
Students
EOPS/CARRE/NextUp & CalWORKs
San Diego Miramar College EOPS and CalWORKs Office serves diverse students impacted by social and economic barriers by fostering a sense of community that empowers them through equitable access to comprehensive academic, financial, and personal support services that promotes a meaningful college experience and the successful completion of their goals.


Staff
Workability III
WorkAbility III (WAIII) programs are established between select California community colleges and the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR). WAIII programs serve individuals with disabilities who are both community college students and DOR consumers desiring employment. Students are referred to the WAIII program by their DOR vocational rehabilitation counselor for enhanced, coordinated vocational services to help them obtain meaningful employment. The San Diego Community College District’s WAIII program has been in place since 1989 and continues to provide uniquely individualized services to its diverse program participants.

The California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) is a statewide public assistance program that provides cash aid and services to eligible families that have a child(ren) in the home. The San Diego Miramar College CalWORKs Student Services Program helps students receiving CalWORKs (cash aid) to achieve long-term self-sufficiency through education and job training. Our main goal and focus is to lift families out of poverty through education.
