Develop and maintain a sustainability program that promotes the use of environmentally sound development and management practices campus wide and incorporates sustainability in the delivery of instruction. Advise the President and Executive Staff in order to assure that the campus meets the objectives and commitments of the “American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment” that was signed by President Janet Dudley-Eshbach and which became effective January 2, 2008.

Office of Sustainability - Coordinates large capital sustainability projects on campus. Tracks campus carbon emissions footprint. Leads education outreach efforts throughout the local community. Submits documents for sustainability related reports and certifications.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
Sustainability Committee - Representatives from multiple departments within the university serve of the Sustainability Committee. The committee meets at a minimum, once per semester, to discuss SU's sustainability goals, initiatives, current and future projects. Each department must contribute to ensure SU meets its sustainability goals. This committee keeps an open dialog between all departments each semester to ensure SU is meetings its goals.
