Total energy consumption (electric and non-electric)

Total energy consumption, performance year:
99,080.18 MMBtu

Clean and renewable energy sources

Clean and renewable electricity

Clean and renewable electricity (report kilowatt-hours):
kWh MMBtu
Imported electricity from certified/verified clean and renewable sources (i.e., bundled green power purchases) 2,541,260 Kilowatt-hours 8,670.78 MMBtu
Electricity from on-site, clean and renewable sources (rights retained/retired) 0 Kilowatt-hours 0 MMBtu

A brief description of the certified/verified sources of clean and renewable electricity:
The certified/verified sources of clean and renewable electricity purchased by SU is wind and solar. The State of Maryland requires each university to purchase a certain percentage of renewable electricity annually through the Maryland Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards Program. The documented imported electricity stated above reflects SU's renewable electricity purchases in FY22.

A brief description of the on-site renewable electricity generating facilities/devices:
SU has a solar canopy over Parking Lot H. The solar canopy is maintained by Standard Solar. In the agreement with Standard Solar, Standard Solar claims the solar REC's but they give SU an equivalent amount of wind REC's. SU retires the wind REC's each year.

Clean and renewable thermal energy

Clean and renewable thermal energy (report MMBtu):
MMBtu
Clean and renewable stationary fuels used on-site to generate thermal energy 0 MMBtu
Imported steam, hot water, and/or chilled water from certified/verified clean and renewable sources 0 MMBtu

A brief description of the clean and renewable stationary fuels:
---

A brief description of the certified/verified sources of clean and renewable thermal energy:

Unbundled renewable energy products

Unbundled renewable energy products (report kWh):
kWh MMBtu
Purchased RECs, GOs, I-RECs or equivalent unbundled renewable energy products certified by a third party 16,712,000 Kilowatt-hours 57,021.34 MMBtu

A brief description of the unbundled renewable energy products:
SU purchases 16,000 volunteer REC's annually. Our campus solar canopy produced 712 REC's of solar energy during FY22. SU has a PPA for the solar canopy with Standard Solar. Standard Solar claims the solar REC's generated from SU's solar canopy, however Standard Solar exchanges the solar REC's and gives SU wind REC's. SU gained 712 unbundled wind REC's through our PPA agreement with Standard Solar during FY22.

Metrics used in scoring

Total clean and renewable energy generated or purchased:
65,692.12 MMBtu

Percentage of total energy consumption from clean and renewable sources:
66.30
