The coordinator will actively work towards fostering support for and achieving 
employment equity for aboriginal people, persons with disabilities,
racially visible people and women (the designated groups) at Saint 
Mary's University.

While we do not have a direct diversity office, coordinator or committee there are still diversity related support and awareness that is given to students.

On campus we have many organizations, centers and advisors on campus. The following are an example.

Atlantic Centre
Establishes individualized support service programs to facilitate the participation of students with disabilities. Our services provide assistance to students to address the effects of disabilities on academic performance. Students who have been diagnosed with a learning disability, mobility impairment, vision impairment, hearing impairment, medical condition or mental health condition, can meet with our staff for information on what services and resources are available for them.

The Saint Mary's University Women's Centre
Promotes gender equity and feminisms and celebrates women through activities and events. They are a queer and trans-positive space and embrace an anti-oppression philosophy. They are involved in a variety of political and social causes and activism and invite groups to use our space for feminist projects.
They offer free resources, advocacy, referrals, and unique feminist programming. Some of our services include weekly stitch and bitch gatherings, free sports for women, feminist discussions, workshops and film screenings. They have a growing feminist library of books, journals and movies available to borrow and free condoms, pads, tampons, coffee and tea

Aboriginal Student Advisor
Through one-on-one discussions and group gatherings, the Advisor listens to Aboriginal Students talk about their concerns. If needed, the Advisor will refer them to other departments and services on campus or in the community. While serving as a resource for Aboriginal Students, the Advisor also services as an educator for the community at large by working to develop awareness, understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal culture.

Black Student Advisor
The role of the Black Student Advisor is to:

Provide educational support and facilitate orientation programs for new students
Provide referrals
Provide information for issues such as: housing, scholarships, bursaries, and employment
Act as a liaison for Black students from all backgrounds and cultures
Foster a sense of support and community among all Black students
Increase cultural awareness & knowledge of community resources available

The International Center
This Center provides support, assistance and advice to international students at Saint Mary's University. The Centre, through programming activities and our volunteer group provides opportunities for cultural and social activities throughout the year. Some of these events include international week and international night.
They put out an online weekly newsletter that provides information on matters concerning in international students, community events and the international aspects of the Saint Mary's Campus.
The International Center also provides an international student handbook as well as an international student orientation.
