A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

Alternative Transportation
U-pass program.
This program is a student driven program that includes a public transit pass in every students fees. this program was voted on by students to allow all students to have access to the Halifax Metro Transit system with out having to purchase monthly passes. This allows all students to have unlimited access at a discounted rate throughout the school year (September - April). By having a bus pass included in student fees this gives students the chance to leave their car at home and take the bus, the more sustainable option.

Parking Permit Survey
This was introduced in hope to make people more aware of other options of transportation that is available to them. When purchasing a parking permit on campus everyone is required to fill out a questionnaire that asks questions about bus routes that the person may live on, if they have thought about the carpool pass, are they interested in a carpool, as well as what barriers are causing them not to use alternative transportation. The data from these surveys is then analysed and used to better promote/ address the issues of alternative transportation for the next year. The most recent report is attached
