One of the goals of the 2008-2011 academic plan is to continue to support interdisciplinary programmes as they are a strength of Saint Mary’s since they often focus directly on urgent social questions.
In the Strategic Research Plan one of the goals is to carry out high quality research that builds on existing strengths and partnerships, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary endeavors. In the same plan another objective is to further develop Saint Mary's University as a centre of interdisciplinary and collaborative research that is directly applicable to social, economic, cultural and political and health issues of Atlantic Canada.
