The main goals for creating a sustainability website was to help promote the concept of sustainability; to incorporate sustainability into our daily life; to communicate information about programs, activities and events on campus and to spread the concept of sustainability into our Saint Mary’s University community, the local community, Nova Scotia and the rest of the world. The site is designed to be informative about the ongoing sustainability related activities on campus.

A brief description of building signage that highlights green building features :
We have developed a green map. Geography students have created a map that act as a green guide to campus that highlights green aspects to campus such as bus stops, recycle bins, nature, idle free zones, environmental education, and many others. This map was created using the green mapping system with universal symbols. There is also signage that highlights our organic and fair trade cafe and signage all over campus that show proper waste separation. The atrium signs show that it is a global learning environment. Idle free signs are posted outdoors around campus.

This online brochure explains the six areas in which ARAMARK (Saint Mary's Food services) has made a commitment to protecting and improving the environment. These areas include sustainable food, responsible procurement, waste management, energy & water, green buildings and transportation. The information about sustainable food focuses on buying local, sustainable agriculture and socially responsible products.

Saint Mary's has developed a Green Map. A poster of the map was created and unveiled during Sustainability Week which took place in March 2009, which is now avaliable online & can be seen in the atrium. This map shows the sustainable living, technology & design, culture & society and nature locations that can be found on campus.
