A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):

Our Green Space Certification Program relies heavily on peer-to-peer educational component to ensure the success of the program and implementation of sustainability best practices in offices throughout campus. Our Green Space team is eager and ready to identify actions staff and faculty members can take to decrease waste, conserve resources and improve their overall environmental performance (while saving money). There are three levels of certification, and offices across Saint Mary's have the opportunity to improve their rating by improving their performance. By signing up to Green Space, our student consultants provide you the necessary resources to make your office and surrounding spaces green. The two audits (pre- and post-) cover energy, waste, food, transportation, purchasing and outreach/events. One of the most important aspects of the Green Space certification process is developing a "Green Team" within their office to share sustainable best practices to their colleagues and peers. Additionally, each Green Space lead is required to describe sustainability best practices that are being implemented by the department or office at a department meeting, thereby educating their peers on these important new best practices.
