Most of the College's licensed/ trademark wear on behalf of the institution is procured, managed and sold by a third party vendor - Barnes and Noble College (BNC). As their designated representative BNC requires their vendors to sign on off on BNC's Fair Labor standards when they sign on as a partner. The statement and requirement from BNC's instructions to vendors is below.

BNC is a member of the FLA and sit on the University Advisory Council. They are not a member of the WRC as corporate entities are not permitted belong to the organization.

The College's athletic trademark/licensed collegiate wear is procured, managed and sold by GameDay Souvenirs operated by SMC alum Eamon Murphy. The proprietor reports that GameDay Souvenirs follow fair labor practices but that they are not a member of the FLA.

Additionally, Under Armour, our exclusive and official outfitter for all of Saint Mary's 17 Division I athletic teams (as of May 2015), is a member of the FLA.

From the Under Armour website: Under Armour was founded on the following core values: Innovation, Inspiration, Reliability and Integrity. Consistent with these values, we seek to do business with suppliers and their subcontractors that adhere to these practices, follow established work place practices and comply with our Code of Conduct (the "Code").

BNC's Vendor Certification Disclosure Program & Code of Conduct Policy
The issue of labor practices in the workplace is a very important topic to Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, LLC. Over the years there has been an increased awareness generated by student groups over business practices and the eradication of sweatshop labor in the United States and abroad. As a service provided for over 650 colleges and universities across America, Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, LLC applauds these efforts and is committed to conducting business in a socially responsible manner.

As part of this movement, in October 1998 we adopted the attached The White House Apparel Industry Partnership “Workplace Code of Conduct”. The Fair Labor Association evolved from the Apparel Industry Partnership and was formally established in 1999. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, LLC is a member of the Fair Labor Association & sits on its University Advisory Council. To become an approved vendor, we require that all our vendors review the FLA Workplace Code of Conduct and return the certification form signed by a senior member of your organization no later than two weeks from the date of this letter. For reference, the FLA’s compliance benchmarks, which supplement the Workplace Code, are available on the FLA website at http://fairlabor.org/images/WhatWeDo/compliance_benchmarks.pdf.

We ask that you fully read and understand Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, LLC Vendor Certification & Code of Conduct Policy and Principles in Monitoring as outlined by The White House’s Apparel Industry Partnership.
