The Waste-Defense team focuses on education, events, project implementation and research/auditing. As a part of the education element, students give an interactive presentation to on-campus residents that includes information on sorting and the lifecycle of our waste.

In its first year (Fall 2015), our students have reached 14 of 37 resident advisors' floors or buildings.

Students on the Waste-Defense team interviewed with the Sustainability Coordinator.

Students received specific training from the Sustainability Coordinator on Saint Mary's waste program, partnership with Republic Waste, and what goes in what bin. Additional follow-up is provided throughout the semester as new data or processes/policies come in.

Some students on the Waste Defense Team are supported through an internship. Additionally, the training was provided, practiced and modeled by the Sustainability Coordinator.
