A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
The College requires that a Waste Management Plan be developed and submitted to the Facilities Services Director who in some cases (depending on the scale of the project) submits to the Town of Moraga Planning Department. The planning document identifies the estimated quantities of waste by type (e.g. asphalt, brick, building materials) that will be recycled, salvaged, or sent to the landfill. For the Town, there is also a fee incentive to meet or exceed a 50% diversion requirement.
