A brief description of the institution’s participation in federal TRIO programs:
Saint Louis University has pre-collegiate and collegiate TRIO programs to serve low-income students. Student educational services provides TRIO program support to pre-collegiate students through the Talent Search program.
The Talent Search program serves 600 students in grades 6 through 12 in the Saint Louis City Public Schools. In addition to counseling, participants receive information about college admissions requirements, scholarships and financial aid programs. This early intervention program helps young people from families of modest means to better prepare for higher education.
Collegiate based programs are serviced by the McNair Scholars program. The McNair Scholars Program, a component of the Trio programs of educational opportunity, seeks to prepare first-generation college students and students from groups underrepresented in graduate education to succeed in doctoral studies in preparation for teaching in colleges and universities.
Student Support Services provides assistance to 175 students who are currently enrolled at Saint Louis University. Counseling, study support groups and financial literacy classes are a few of the services that Student Support Services provides to low-income students attending Saint Louis University.
