A brief description of the undergraduate degree program (1st program):

The Bachelor of Arts major in Environmental Studies investigates the environment and the ecological challenges that it faces. The Environmental Studies major couples scientific disciplines, such as biology, ecology, geology, and limnology, with sociology and philosophy. Students majoring in Environmental Studies pursue careers in conservation and environmental stewardship and consulting. Interdisciplinary Minor in Sustainability Studies

A brief description of the undergraduate minor, concentration or certificate (1st program):

A minor in sustainability studies at Saint Joseph’s College will develop skills in our graduates to address large scale interrelated global environmental challenges including climate change, energy production, biodiversity loss, declining agricultural production, pollution and water shortages and obtain experiences that will enable them to be effective leaders in developing sustainable solutions in their areas of expertise. The minor will:
• Engage students of different majors in a relevant field that will enable them to address the important problem of how we can best live on the planet
• Allow students to take many core curriculum courses in a connected, integrated fashion while obtaining real world experience
• Develop skills and knowledge in sustainability specifically tailored to be useful to their major field of study
