A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:
Two buildings on campus- the George Vari Engineering Computing Centre (ENG) and the Daphne Cockwell Center (DCC), make use of grey water collection systems; water collected from showers, taps and rain is treated and used to flush toilets. Such design features are also considered for new buildings that are currently in the design phase.
The Ryerson Urban Farm atop the ENG building and DCC’s new green roof also help with this in terms of capturing rainwater and reducing storm water runoff by nature of design and function.
