A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:

In 2017, students and employees were invited to participate in a transportation survey which gathered information about commuting choices and preferences. In addition to providing a more comprehensive understanding of Ryerson's transportation patterns, preferences and carbon emissions, the information is used for campus planning and design efforts related to supporting the goals of Ryerson’s Master Plan (e.g. increased pedestrianization). It was a representative sample because all Ryerson students and employees had equal chances of participating in the survey.
