The graduate programs in Environmental Applied Science and Management at Ryerson University offer studies in environmental sciences, technology, and environmental management systems and decision-making at the masters and doctoral level. These multidisciplinary programs are for students from a number of related disciplines including biology, chemistry, ecology, engineering, geography, geology, public and occupational health, urban planning and environmental studies.

Building Science

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):

There is an urgent need to reduce the impact of buildings on the natural world. To do so, new and existing buildings must improve energy efficiency, improve indoor environmental quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve heritage, and reduce resource consumption and waste generation. We need to embrace these principles, and we need you—tomorrow’s building science professional.

The interdisciplinary graduate program of building science is unique in Canada. It offers graduates of related programs the opportunity to explore the principles necessary to deliver sustainable buildings and prepare for careers in the building science industry and related areas such as engineering, architecture and construction.

The program offers a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree of building science for Fall 2019, a master of applied science (MASc) degree or a master of building science (MBSc) degree.

Ryerson’s Master of Planning (MPl) in Urban Development combines holistic examination and analysis of economic, socio-cultural, political, ecological and spatial elements in reimagining our communities, structured around the intertwined dimensions of urban culture and nature. Students explicitly address the principles of inclusivity and sustainability in designing for development.

Urban Development at Ryerson will challenge you to incorporate urban culture, nature, inclusion and sustainability frameworks into urban development and design.Our program is unique in Canada. It opens the door to advanced practice and leadership in the urban development field:Our two-year stream supports university graduates without prior experience in planning to launch their planning careers.

Developed by the Centre for Urban Energy (CUE) at Ryerson University, the Professional Master’s Diploma (PMDip) in Energy and Innovation is intended to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to function competently as officers, administrators, technicians, analysts and other key occupations in the fast-growing and rapidly-changing Canadian energy sector.

In addition to providing diverse, meaningful and lucrative career options to participants, the diploma program addresses recognized and pressing needs within the public and private sectors, for individuals qualified in these areas to assume a variety of operational, administrative and managerial roles, including energy analysts, energy policy advisors and energy managers.
