A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
Winter Course- Food and Sustainability in Thailand (14 days): From production to consumption, students explore issues that drive the global food industry-Sustainability, Food Safety, and Food Security-in three different regions in Thailand: Kanchanaburi, Phetchabun, and Nakhon Pathom. Students are also exposed to everyday life there, experiencing the rich Thai culture across these rural and urban landscapes from over 2500 years of tradition, in addition to food pathways from farm to table. https://global.rutgers.edu/program-search/details/winter-rutgers-food-and-sustainability-thailand
Embedded Spring Course - Tropical Environments and Society (9 days): Students develop a broad understanding of the physical, ecological, biological, and social dimensions of tropical environments. Students explore the challenges and issues confronting tropical environments and the people that call them home through multiple lenses, including climate and climate change, ecosystems and biodiversity, land use and disturbance, and agriculture and food security. Students conduct hands-on research related to the tropical environments surrounding you during this week-long field experience at La Selva Biological Research Station in Costa Rica, with projects focusing on the interface between the undisturbed environment of La Selva and its increasingly disturbed surroundings. https://global.rutgers.edu/program-search/details/embedded-spring-tropical-environments-and-society
