A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
RRu has formal partnerships with the community of Colwood as a regional partnership on the Solar Colwood initiative. The institute works on community partnerships through a model called social diffusion. RRU is also a sponsor of local TEDx conferences in Victoria. RRU also partners with school districts 62 and 61 with kindergarden nature programs and high school Sea Change Conservation Society programs. RRU has also partnered with the Capital Regional District (CRD) on Resilient Regions and Communities to develop the regional pedestrian and cycling masterplan. RRU partners with Power To Be Victoria which helps to provide outdoor access to the Power To Be adventure therapy program. RRU also organizes earth day events with Creatively United for the Planet. RRU has also been actively involved with the local Ready Set Solve student lead climate action chalenge which partners with many schools, businesses and districts that address sustainability issues in the community.
