OP-9: Integrated Pest Management
The size of the campus grounds :
The size of campus grounds that are maintained in accordance with a four-tiered IPM plan :
A brief description of the IPM plan(s) :
The grounds on campus are maintained in a sustainable manner. Only the formal gardens, which are mandated to be protected because of the designation of a National Historic Site, are monitored more intensively. Generally action is only taken if a lack of action would result in death of the plant. Plants that have regular problems (such as plant death or extreme unsightliness due to insect, fungal, or bacterial problems) that will require ongoing treatment are removed. The only insecticides that are used are those approved under an organic garden regime, and only as a last resort.

The formal campus (the 40 acres maintained by RRU) is managed using IPM. The designated National Historic Site (the remaining 510 acres) are managed according to the federally mandated National Forest Pest Strategy.
