A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
Royal Roads University supports having a diverse faculty in the hopes of providing a rich learning experience for all students. Royal Roads University participates in mentoring and other support programs, which encourage the participation of under-represented groups in higher education.
There are no set programs in place which teach fellowships or other programs to support terminal degree students from underrepresented groups in gaining teaching experience. There are however, mentoring, financial, and/or other support programs established at Royal Roads University to prepare and encourage undergraduate or other non-terminal degree students to pursue further education and careers as faculty members. This is seen through an entrance award for doctoral student’s which is worth $5,000, as well as lab assistant positions for undergraduate students once they have graduated.
