To reduce its net greenhouse gas emission by 50% from 2007 levels.

A brief summary of the climate plan’s short-term goals:
Royal Roads plans to accomplish this reduction by compiling a yearly comprehensive inventory of its greenhouse gas emissions on campus including an analysis of the education model and work from home initiative. From this inventory, targets will be set and tangible actions will be implemented. Some options that are being examined to reduce or offset greenhouse gases include; reducing staff travel, expanding the Sustainability Action Fund for the Environment that purchases carbon offsets, with funding matched by Royal Roads University’s Foundation for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability, occupancy sensors, encouraging alternative transportation, LEED building certification, increasing online course content, insulation upgrades and green power credits.
