Does the institution have a sustainability plan that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:

The groups that were responsible for developing this plan include; The Associate Vice-President, the Chief Information Officer, the Royal Roads University Office of Sustainability, the Youth Climate Leadership Alliance, the Board of Governors, the University President Council, the Government of British Columbia and the community of Colwood

A brief description of the plan’s measurable goals :

The primary goals of the 2008 Sustainability Plan are to reduce net greenhouse gas emission by 50% from 2007 levels, be climate neutral, be self-sufficient in energy waste and water and to recognize best practices and become a leader in sustainability.

Royal Roads University has proposed a Waste and Energy Recovery Research Centre on campus that would generate heat and electricity from burning dry wood in a gasification system would also treat wastewater or sewage and also include a compost facility. The energy from the centre would provide more than enough energy to get Royal Roads University off the grid, and allow the university to sell excess energy to the nearby communities.

Initiatives such as the Robert Batemen Living Building (Royal Roads University, 2008), the Waster and Energy Recovery Centre and a fund raising campaign with a goal of $30 million to fund sustainability goals that will assist in Royal Roads objective to be climate neutral.

A brief description of how progress in meeting the plan’s goals is measured:

By setting time sensitive targets and producing reports such as the Carbon Neutral Action Report, Royal Roads University is able to measure its progress on meeting the goals set by the Sustainability Plan.
