A brief description of the event(s):
Royal Roads University holds major events related to sustainability in which students are the intended audience. On April 22, 2010 Royal Roads University students welcomed local businesses that explore the opportunities found in sustainable products or those organizations that help people understand the importance of minimizing humanity's impact on the environment. Earth day festivities also include the promotion of bicycle use as a low-cost, sustainable commuter option. Recyclistas, a local business, takes donated bikes and bike parts and rebuilds them, creating sustainable transportation alternatives. Tree planting, invasive species removal, an on-campus waste audit, tap water promotion and a Robert Bateman Earth Day talk which fuses art with the environment were also part of the sustainability event.
