Yes

The name of the campaign(s):
goBEYOND

A brief description of the campaign(s):

Royal Roads began participating in a sustainability outreach campaign called goBEYOND in 2009 that is dedicated to encouraging student-run climate action and sustainability initiatives.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):

The program uses an online calculator that students can use to determine their carbon footprint in tonnes of CO2/year. Students also received a Personal Green Plan (PGP) worksheet that gives tips on how to reduce personal GHG emissions, integrate sustainable ideas into everyday life, and to plan to continue GHG reductions in the future. The PGP can be used to track emissions progress over time and users can connect on social networking sites to compare results. This is a new program so there were no participants in the 2008-2009 school years. In the 2009-2010 school year over 95 students and 20 Earth Day participants signed up for the calculator. The considerable interest exhibited by participants in the programs first year demonstrates the interest the Royal Roads community has in learning about sustainability.
