A brief description of the institution’s community garden:
Cooper Sprouts Community Garden: The Cooper Sprouts’ Community Garden seeks to rebuild and restore the Camden community from the ground up and to improve the health and well-being of the residents of the Cooper Square and Lanning Square neighborhoods, where Cooper Medical School of Rowan University resides. Together with the neighborhood association, medical students support the garden by helping with planting, maintaining, harvesting, and distributing fresh produce at no cost to neighborhood residents. The goals of this service learning project include providing neighbor residents with better access to fresh, local, healthy food options, offering basic education on dietary choices for disease prevention, and reaching out on behalf of the Camden Collaborative Community Clinic with information about its free health care services for eligible individuals.
