A brief description of the undergraduate degree program:

Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ESS)  explores humanity's relationship with the natural world in order to help solve environmental problems. Environmental problems are a priority: in your town, across the state of New Jersey, throughout the US, and around the world. Without a strong and resilient environment, humans live shorter lives, have less productive economies, and miss out on the majesty of nature.

Study of environmental change and solution development. Students use relevant experiences paired with foundational courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and other STEM disciplines to achieve this goal. Program features field trip to hands-on ecosystem research sites.

Everyone from artists to engineers, businesspeople to field scientists, has something valuable to contribute to the sustainability conversation. That's why we offer classes and degree programs that focus on sustainability from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. We offer majors, minors, and certificates in sustainability at Rowan as well as some graduate programs. Minor in Sustainable Built Environments

A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration:

The Minor in Sustainable Built Environments is a program our department shares with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rowan. Students in the Minor take classes from both departments that emphasize the environmental dimensions of building and site design, and offer students the chance to learn and apply skills relating to the booming 'green building' industry.

A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration (2nd program):

Our new Minor in Climate Science provides students with a deeper understanding of the structure and dynamics of the climate system, the changes that are underway, and solutions.

A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration (3rd program):

The Minor in Sustainability Science combines the study of sustainability with the scientific method. It focuses on natural and social science. Students in this minor will study sustainability utilizing scientific methods applied to both social and natural questions.
