The University funds a student organization called the Eco Reps. The Eco Reps carry out sustainable practices in campus and sponsor awareness programs such as Meatless Monday. The Eco Reps are also responsible for maintenance of compost bins behind residence halls. Each year the Eco Reps hold a week long environmental celebration in which they hold sustainability panels, a reusable clothing fashion show, an outdoor festival focused on eco-friendly lifestyles and much more.

The campus has an oyster farm located in the Mount Hope Bay. There is also a shellfish hatchery in the Marine and Natural Sciences building. There is a green roof on top of this building as well, which has many native plants along with berries bushes and pollinators.

We frequently hold speaker events to talk about environmental issues and sustainability. The most recent was author Jeff Goodell of "Water Will Come", who came to talk about climate change and rising sea levels. Additionally, the ECO-Reps host an Earth Week every year. One of their more popular events is our lecture series of Environment Justice in which their collaborate with The Intercultrual Center.

The Eco Reps hold art events related to reusable material and outdoors/nature oriented photography contest. Dance programs have performed with sustainability as a theme. Films have been show related to sustainable topics.

Eco Reps offer sustainable living tips for college students which include apartment living (i.e. how to compost effectively, energy conservation, etc.) and also a large wie-scale educational initiative in which ECO-Reps educate residential students on the importance of recycling and how to effectively participate in the university single stream option.
