Has the institution assessed attitudes about diversity and equity on campus in a way that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

A brief description of the assessment(s):

Per the RMCAD Director of Institutional Research and Assessment:
In the 2010-2011 academic year, this item was measured in two ways. First, on the Spring 2011 Student Satisfaction Survey, students were asked to evaluate how well they felt RMCAD instills the institutional outcomes. In general, students indicated that they had made some progress in understanding diverse individuals, situations, and viewpoints. A relationship was found between the number of credits earned and this institutional outcome variable. Students who have been at RMCAD a shorter period of time tended to indicate that they had made more progress understanding and appreciating diversity. This indicates that RMCAD is making progress as an institution in both diversifying the student body and emphasizing the importance of diversity and equity on campus.
This variable was also measured through academic assessment and the linking of institutional outcomes to student projects across the college. During the 2010-2011 academic year, the diversity outcome was assessed in 439 projects across all majors. The overall assessment level was 4.35 (very good) and the overwhelming majority of assessments were rated in the excellent (n=233) or very good (n=148) categories. This indicates that the college is also emphasizing exposure to and appreciation of diversity through art and design coursework and that the students are being assessed by faculty as performing above average in this area.

Year the assessment was last administered:
2,011

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:

Per the RMCAD Director of Institutional Research and Assessment:
The RMCAD Program Review and Assessment Committee examines one institutional outcome in depth each month. During this examination, the committee collects data on the outcome from disparate sources across the college and asks each department chair to prepare an addendum on initiatives implemented to improve in that area. The committee, however, has not conducted this intimate review of outcome #11 as of yet but the student satisfaction and academic assessment results have laid the groundwork for how this outcome will be reviewed by the committee in the upcoming academic year
