A brief description of the campaign(s):
Recyclemania is a 10 week nationwide competition between hundreds of colleges and universities on various categories involving recycling and waste minimization. Throughout these 10 weeks the RIT Recycling Department engages the student body in several events pertaining to Recyclemania, including the Recyclemania Kickoff Event, Recycle-Olympics, and the Recyclemania Closing Ceremony. All of these events involve the students participating in activities that increase their awareness on the processes and the importance of recycling.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):
There have been several positive impacts associated with the Recyclemania Tournament since we have participated in 2008. The most significant positive impact includes educating the campus about the changes to the Recycling System at RIT. After the switch to Single Stream, this campaign played an important role in informing the community about how to adapt to the switch and what they can do to participate. This played a crucial role in increasing our overall recycling rate by almost 5% in one year. Another important aspect of the Recyclemania Tournament is that it allows us to monitor how much waste we are creating and compare ourselves to schools around the nation. By doing so, we were able to realize which aspects of waste management we need to focus on, such as waste minimization.
