A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Sustainability is one core value of Rio Salado College. Through living those core values, Rio Salado College creates a climate of high expectations for the success of our current and future students, clients, and employees. We are unalterably committed to demonstrating, assessing, and being accountable for our core organizational values. As a result, every new employee learns how Rio’s core values are sustained throughout the organization by disciplined people, thoughts, and actions.
During New Employee Orientation, each employee explores the Rio Salado culture. Each is given a packet of materials, including the Rio culture page, which features Sustainability as one of Rio’s six core values. All new employees are also given a reusable water bottle and introduced to social sustainability through our Pay 30 Forward program for volunteerism. Employees are further introduced to the Café @ Rio which is committed to serving sustainable food that nourishes body and soul. Finally new employees are briefed on Rio’s participation in STARS and the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment.
