A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contribute to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
Contractors who are responsible for construction projects that are seeking LEED Certification are required to provide accurate records proving % of waste diverted from landfills. Remodeling projects that are constructed by in-house maintenance and operations staff are subject to the same requirements. Recycled construction waste and landfill trash are documented in pounds. The waste management companies that handle the waste have formal programs to provide separate containers for various classes of materials, and document the amount diverted and he amount landfilled.
