1. America's Greenest Campus; 2. Sustainability Scholarship Competition
A brief description of the campaign(s):
1. America’s Greenest Campus, a contest sponsored by Climate Culture, was the first nationwide challenge encouraging colleges to reduce the carbon footprints of their students, faculty, alumni, and staff.
2. The Sustainability Scholarship Competition invites students to demonstrate how they implement sustainable practices to decrease their carbon footprint. Students submit media depicting how they make and implement these changes at home.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):
1. Rio reduced their overall carbon footprint by 4.4%, as indicated by students’ and Rio employees’ commitment to personally reducing their impact on the environment.
2. Students sent in entries that showed how they are decreasing their carbon footprints for the Sustainability Scholarship Competition. Winners received scholarships for Rio Salado tuition. The positive impact is apparent by the number of students involved in the competition, the media created and information shared with the student population, and the positive feedback received about the campaign.
