The Sustainability Committee is charged with reviewing current and proposed sustainability practices, providing oversight in the implementation of such practices, raising awareness of sustainability practices and devising the appropriate communication of such practices. Working collaboratively, the Committee will entertain proposals from various campus constituencies. The Committee functions in an advisory capacity to the President.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
Through an institutional-wide, collaborative effort spearheaded by the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, endorsed, supported and fulfilled by the College's Senior Officers with the support of various administrative staff and key members of the Sustainability Committee, the Ringling College of Art and Design was recognized by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education with a STARS Bronze Rating in 2017.

The Energy and Sustainability Manager is dedicated to managing campus energy, water, renewable energy systems and utilities, implementing technical improvements, tracking performance, evaluating the effectiveness of measures and initiatives, and developing energy and sustainability education, communication, and outreach programs. In addition, the Energy and Sustainability Manager is responsible for overseeing utility budgets and identifying and potential conservation and sustainability projects and initiatives. The Energy and Sustainability manager will oversee the campus building automation system(s) (BAS).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitoring progress and preparing the required reports associated to national organizations such as STARS ratings.
• Monitor and analyze energy and utility consumption data, budgets and expenditures. Make recommendations to optimize energy consumptions and equipment performance while maximizing occupant comfort.
• Plan, organize, and manage commissioning of building systems and equipment.
• Participate in commissioning of new construction and renovation projects.
• Oversee and monitor campus wide waste management and recycling programs.
• Oversee, monitor, and program the campus building automation systems (BAS). Coordinate with contractors and maintenance staff to ensure proper operation of systems.
• Work with students, faculty, and staff, as necessary, to improve campus conservation, sustainability and recycling initiatives.
• Research and apply for grants and rebates associated to energy and water savings.
• Develop projects and initiative associated to energy and water savings.
• Participate on University committees as needed.
• Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledgeable in mechanical, HVAC, electrical and building automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and control diagrams.
• Ability to interpret analyze utility bills and data.
• Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work outside normal business hours, weekends and holidays as required.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office products.
