A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level:
Currently, the Energy and Sustainability Manager serves on the City of Sarasota Green Building Task Force to help implement sustainable building measures for new buildings and major renovation projects for City facilities.
Ringing College is of Art and Design is an organizing partner for the Sustainable Communities Workshop - an annual conference dealing with local and regional sustainability issues. The conference is hosted by the county office of sustainability with assistance from the city's Sustainability officer. Ringing is also an organizing partner for Eat Local Week, an annual event that highlights local growers, local sourced agriculture and heritage seafood. The event begins on World Food Day. Both of these events are where public policies initiatives are discussed and advanced.
