A brief description of the assessment(s):
The College has engaged in several assessments that measure campus diversity culture. The College submits an annual "Underrepresented Groups Report" to the Illinois Community College Board that shows progress has been made in increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in higher education. Over the last five years, the College has engaged in 2 sets of focus groups that assess staff and student diversity climate. The focus groups were conducted by an outside assessor.

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
The results from these groups were incorporated into the work of the Diversity Committee. Among the recommendations that have been implemented are the following: Offer diversity workshops - several were developed and began being offered in Fall 2007 and have continued since that time. All employees are required to attend diversity in hiring training prior to serving on a search committee. Technology needs and training are consistently monitored and updated as needed, including those specifically related to persons with disabilities.
