A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
In addition to its commitment to build green in all new permanent construction, Richland has applied principles of energy efficient design when addressing its short-term building needs. A new modular classroom building was installed in 2009 with occupancy in early February of 2010. This 56' X 72' structure contains four independent classrooms which feature energy efficient and durable improvements such as recycled carpet, stucco exterior, white reflective roof, energy efficient lighting and new generation Solotube skylights. While not certified, LEED Silver specifications were used throughout the manufacture and installation of this modular classroom building.
