A brief description of the time period from which the figures reported above are drawn (i.e. one-year time period or representative sample):
The figures reported are for 2015. The figures come from a larger procurement data set believed to represent about a quarter of all university procurement. Thus, we took the total of technology purchases from the data set and multiplied by 4 to give an estimate for the total expenditures on electronics procurement over that year. The EPEAT data is taken from a representative random sample from the 2015 calendar year. The sample was taken using a confidence interval of 95% and a margin of error of 5%.
