Floor area of building space that is certified at each level under a green building rating system for the operations and maintenance of existing buildings used by an Established Green Building Council:
Certified Floor Area
LEED O+M Platinum or the highest achievable level under another GBC rating system 0 Square Feet
LEED O+M Gold or the 2nd highest level under another 4- or 5-tier GBC rating system 0 Square Feet
Certified at mid-level under a 3- or 5-tier GBC rating system (e.g. BREEAM-In Use, CASBEE for Existing Buildings, DGNB, Green Star Performance) 0 Square Feet
LEED O+M Silver or at a step above minimum level under another 4 -or 5–tier GBC rating system 0 Square Feet
LEED O+M Certified or certified at minimum level under another GBC rating system 0 Square Feet

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a published indoor air quality (IAQ) management policy or protocol? (0-100):
100

A brief description of how green cleaning is incorporated into cleaning contracts:

Green cleaning is performed by the custodians within the Facilities Engineering and Planning department, covering all on-campus facilities except those cleaned by Housing and Dining. Rice does not outsource its custodial function.

Attached is a description of the green cleaning program as part of a LEED submittal - this same program and set of practices are used across the academic buildings at Rice University.

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with an energy management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
100

A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:

All campus buildings are monitored via an energy dashboard system from Rockwell Automation called FactoryTalk VantagePoint EMI. This system tracks data from the electricity, chillled water, and steam meters among other data points. Many of these meters also have weather-normalized predictive models assigned to them which serves as a baseline to measure performance. Energy staff uses these tools to identify energy issues and to measure the effectiveness of energy conservation measures.

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a water management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
0

Indoor Air Quality: See sections 10 and 13 of the link provided. IAQ is always tested if there is evidence of mold, water intrusion, etc. Furthermore, indoor air quality in laboratories is automatically sampled at Rice's BioSciences Research Collaborative (BRC) using a system called Aircuity. Aircuity monitors the air from rooms and ducts and informs the ventilation controls to adjust air flow accordingly. Using such a system enables a reduced number of air changes in labs while providing optimal ventilation and energy savings. The BRC represents 873,862 gross square feet.
