A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
All students participate in a diversity training program as freshmen during orientation. Additionally, presidents of student support programs for under-represented groups (such as the Black Student Association and the Hispanic Association for Cultural Enrichment at Rice) are invited to attend NCORE, the National Conference on Race & Ethnicity in Higher Education, an annual multicultural forum dedicated to improving ethnic and racial relations on campuses around the US. Funding for attending the conference is supplied by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
