Rice sponsors a number of groups that support under-represented groups. These include Rice AGEP, the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellows Program, ADVANCE, FRESH, Rice University Nominator's Circle, Black Graduate Association, Black Student Association, Association of Rice Black Alumni, Caribbean Association, Chinese Student Association, Hispanic Association for Cultural Enrichment at Rice, Society of Latino Alumni at Rice, GLBTQA Advancing Toward a Harmonious Environment at Rice, Rice GLBT Alumni, Japanese Association, Korean Association, Mexican Association, Muslim Association, National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Rice Native American Association, South Asian Society, Vietnamese Student Association, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support under-represented groups within the faculty:
Rice has a number of programs to support under-represented groups of faculty and staff. The most prominent of these is the Rice African American Employee Network. They sponsor a number of different events, speakers, brown bag lunches, and discussion groups on topics ranging from health issues for African Americans to faculty research. They have also partnered with FRESH to serve as mentors for incoming freshmen.
A similar program, based off of RAAEN, is the Latino Employee Network. This is a new initiative that has only recently been put together.
