A brief description of the technology employed:
Starting in 2004, Rice has installed a number of waterless urinals from Falcon Waterfree Technologies around campus. A typical waterless urinal is estimated to save 40,000 gallons of water every year. Locations utilizing waterless urinals include Anderson Biology Laboratory, Herman Brown, and Abercrombie Engineering Lab. Dual flush technology is also used in various buildings, as well as in the newer residential colleges.
