EcoReps are selected through an application process and chosen by the Director of Sustainability. There is 1 EcoRep for each of the 11 residential colleges.

EcoReps are introduced to key staff members in Housing & Dining that they will need to work with, as well as to the Director of Sustainability. A "lead EcoRep" is designated by the Director of Sustainability, and this person takes the lead in training the other EcoReps in the processes and details of the program, including how to apply for "green funds" to support EcoRep projects.

EcoReps are paid an hourly salary and often work closely with Housing & Dining staff members. H&D provides $1000 of Green Funds to each residential college to be spent on improving the colleges’ sustainability. EcoReps play a central role in determining how these funds are spent, including initiating projects themselves for funding.
