Comprised of faculty, staff, administrators, and students, the Environmental Sustainability Committee serves RVCC in an advisory capacity. As stated in the College Forum's bylaws, the Environmental Sustainability Committee promotes a culture of sustainability by recommending and developing policies and programs to improve sustainability on campus, supporting sustainability across the curriculum, and organizing community outreach and educational events.

Committee goals are:

to consider the environmental impact of campus activities and projects,
to raise awareness of local and global environmental issues,
to protect and develop the natural resources of the college,
and to coordinate and disseminate information on diverse green initiatives college wide.

In FY22, the committee was involved in creating a sustainable food survey, providing input into the campus dining RFP, passing a resolution that the College create an Energy Committee (which it now has), and hosting Earth Day events (bat expert presentation, tree documentary screening, and EV show).

Chaired the Environmental Sustainability Committee (see activities above). Created and co-chaired Energy Committee in 2022. Applied for energy efficiency rebates. Renewing River Friendly and Bee Campus USA certifications. Renewing AASHE STARS certification. Performing greenhouse gas inventories (annually), purchasing offsets and RECs (annually), and writing report (FY20). Organized campus plantings of native pollinator plants and trees. Participating in NJ Climate Change Alliance and NJ Higher Ed Partnership for Sustainability (NJHEPS). Giving presentations on climate-related topics.
