In fall 2011, a solar array was installed in Lot 5 to power the Arts and Childcare buildings. It generates 446kW and meets approximately 90% of the demand of these two buildings. Arrays installed in the west stormwater basin (for Workforce building) and 74 Lamington became operational in 2022. RVCC does not own the SRECs for these arrays.

RVCC purchased Green-e US RECs equivalent to 107% of purchased electricity in 2020 and 35% of purchased electricity in 2021. That works out to 5070 MWh (usage plus the 7% overage of 622 MWh) for H2 2020 and 3243 MWh for H1 2021, for a total of 8313 MWh for FY21. Purchase contracts were executed on 2/14/2020 (purchased in advance for 2020) and 3/2/22 (for 2021).
